The Common ground
hosted by katie, thursday 17:00-17:30
Welcome to The Common Ground! I’m Katie Voake and I’ll be taking you through some great pieces of music from different composers and time periods which share a common source of inspiration.
From fragments of Shakespeare to the humble sound of rain gently pattering on the roof, tune in every Thursday at 17:00 to hear these shared themes threaded through magnificent works of different styles and centuries.
Tune in for the first ever episode of “The Common Ground” where we will be exploring (and simply enjoying) dazzling, virtuosic solo piano works by Liszt, Ravel, Debussy and Chopin which have been inspired by resplendent fountains, gently shifting our attention halfway through the programme with Debussy’s “Jardins sous la Pluie” to works built on the motif of raindrops.
Welcome to the second episode of The Common Ground!
In this show we will be listening to works inspired by the mysterious and fragile realm of dreams, passing through great recordings of works infused with a strong sense of nostalgia from Schumann to Mendelssohn, with an emphasis on the latter’s overture to “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream”.
